CM�s appeal against provocative remarks

GUWAHATI, Aug 28 � Admitting that the Government has failed to control things in BTAD even after 40 days have passed, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that the Government was doing its best to bring back peace in the strife-torn districts.

The BTAD violence has so far claimed over 90 lives, besides rendering lakhs of people homeless.

The Chief Minister also said that he has asked the Army and police to seize arms and act against tough against the miscreants.

Addressing a press conference, Gogoi urged the political parties and organisations to maintain restrain and also refrain from making any provocative statement.

The Chief Minister also voiced out against bandh calls asserting that such things, apart from affecting the economy also spreads a sense of distrust among the people.

�Calling bandhs is not going to help the cause in any away. In Assam, it has become like a culture which we should not encourage as it affects the stability of the State,� Gogoi rued.
