CM urges colleges to start double shifts

GUWAHATI, June 22 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has sought cooperation from the college authorities and teachers� associations to start double/evening shifts in the colleges for the greater interest of the student community, said an official press release here.

Gogoi said that in view of a large number of students passing out from schools this year and to safeguard their future, the colleges must start double/evening shifts. �I personally seek the cooperation of the college authorities and teachers� associations to accommodate the large number of students who have passed out from schools this year and to safeguard their future,� he added.

The Chief Minister also asked the Commissioner and Secretary, Higher Education, HK Sarma to hold meetings with principals of colleges and teachers associations for this purpose, the press release said.
