BOKAKHAT, March 24 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is scheduled to visit the world heritage site, Kaziranga National Park on March 30.
The CM will take stock of various ongoing developmental works in KNP. It needs to be mentioned that the park authorities have been taking every measure to arrest the rampant killing of rhinos by poachers. To protect the Kaziranga National Park, assistance and co-operation from all classes of the society are required.
Through the park has already completed the centenary celebrations, the rift between the public and the authorities is increasing gradually.
On the otherwise, Centrally-sponsored plan Project Tiger has been launched (2010-2011) and various infrastructure developmental works are beings extended on a war footing as revealed by the KNP authorities.
Due to increase of the population of animals in the park, deforestation and lack of sufficient foodstuffs, rhinos, tigers, elephants and other animals have started straying into the human habitations which has created panic and threat to the life and property of the villagers.
If the development works estimated and planned by the Government, materialise properly, the park will get a new look. The newly-constructed anti-poaching camp, bridges, installation of Mark-IV tubewell, base camp inside park area, elephant bathing facility for departmental elephants at Mihimukh grassland enclosures at Baahubeel, western range, construction of spurs at Arimora, fishery pond with raised boundary and fence, construction of 10-km power fencing, transit camp of all ranges will definitely bring about a new change to the park. This will provide substandard help in protection and conservation of flora and fauna of the park in the real sense.
The local people in particular and conscious people of Assam as a whole would observe minutely the bold step of the CM in regard to maintaining transparency in various developmental works of KNP in course of time. From that point of view, the visit of the CM on March 30 will be a important tour for the park.
The SDO (Civil) of Bokakhat subdivision said that there would be a discussion on every related Kaziranga programme which would be attended by Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain, PWD Minister Ajanta Neog and all the top brass of the related departments.
