CM reviews progress of 4-lane work in Sonitpur

TEZPUR, June 7 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the progress of four-lane works going on in Sonitpur district and instructed the General Manager of NHIDCL Rajiv Sharma to take necessary action and terminate contracts of all non-performing contractors at the earliest.

He also instructed the General Manager to take necessary steps for carrying out maintenance work on the roads till the next contract is awarded.

Moreover, the Chief Minister also instructed the Executive Engineer of PWD (National Highway), Nagaon Division to expedite construction work on the National Highway from Tezpur to Kaliabor and take up necessary repair on the stretch from Mission Chariali to Jamuguri.

After reviewing the air connectivity scenario at Tezpur airport with the Airport Director, the Chief Minister said he would instruct the authorities concerned to take appropriate steps to increase the number of regular flights to and from Tezpur and improve air travel facilities for the people.

Not surprisingly, the Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over slow progress of four-laning works of national highways in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur district Narsingh Pawar Sambhaji was also present during the review meet.
