CM reviews Dima Hasao situation

GUWAHATI, Jan 29 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today held a meeting with Chief Executive Member of the Dima Hasao Autonomus Council Debalal Garlosa and members of various organisations to discuss the current situation prevailing in Dima Hasao district.

The Chief Minister stated that no satellite council or special development authority would be allowed on Assam's land as he called on all sections of the people to maintain peace and harmony.

The Chief Minister said he would visit Dima Hasao soon and hold meetings with the village headmen of the area for addressing the concerns of various stakeholders. He also said that the Divisional Commissioner of the Barak valley region would visit the district every month and directly report to the Chief Minister. Steps have been taken to provide free treatment to victims of the recent incidents, while the wife of Mithun Dibragede, who lost his life in the recent strife, would be provided a government job and his children would be provided free education, Sonowal said. A member of the family of Prabanta Hatmosa, another person slain during the violence, would also be considered for a government job after consultation, he said.

An assurance letter allaying all apprehensions of residents of the district was given to the Dima Hasao Autonomus Council from the Government of Assam. Representatives from the All Dimasa Students� Union along with members of various organisations of Dima Hasao were present in the meeting.
