Gogois comments came after he sought additional forces ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. He said it was normal for the militant outfits to indulge in violence ahead of January 26.

On Sunday, he said that he was in direct touch with the DGP and the SPs of the affected districts of Udalguri and Chirang. The police officials today met Army and CRPF to fine tune a strategy to launch operations against NDFB (S), he said.

Meanwhile, replying to questions, Gogoi said that getting 12 Lok Sabha seats shouldnt be a tough job, as Congress planned to wrest four seats held by BJP in Assam. I am confident of snatching Guwahati, Mangaldai, and Silchar seats besides Nagaon, he asserted.

I had assured vice president Rahul Gandhi to win 12 seats but he has given us the target of winning 14 seats. We will fulfil his wish, he asserted.
