CM orders intensified operations against NDFB(S)

NEW DELHI, Jan 19 � Alarmed by the sudden spurt in violence, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi ordered intensification of operation against NDFB(S) faction in coordination with Army and Central para-military forces.

Talking to newsmen, the Chief Minister said that orders has been given to Assam Police to hold coordination meetings with Army and CRPF to firm up strategy for a joint operations against the Bodo militant outfit.

Gogoi�s comments came after he sought additional forces ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. He said it was normal for the militant outfits to indulge in violence ahead of January 26.

On Sunday, he said that he was in direct touch with the DGP and the SPs of the affected districts of Udalguri and Chirang. �The police officials today met Army and CRPF to fine tune a strategy to launch operations against NDFB (S),� he said.

Meanwhile, replying to questions, Gogoi said that getting 12 Lok Sabha seats shouldn�t be a tough job, as Congress planned to wrest four seats held by BJP in Assam. �I am confident of snatching Guwahati, Mangaldai, and Silchar seats besides Nagaon,� he asserted.

�I had assured vice president Rahul Gandhi to win 12 seats but he has given us the target of winning 14 seats. We will fulfil his wish,� he asserted.
