CM for filling up of vacancies for differently abled persons by Dec 20

GUWAHATI, Dec 6 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the social welfare department to finalise the selection criterion for filling up all backlog vacancies of differently abled persons in various government departments within December 20.

While chairing a meeting with representatives of associations of differently abled persons in the Chief Minister�s conference room at Janata Bhawan on Tuesday, Sonowal informed that all the backlog vacancies for differently abled persons would be filled up through a special recruitment drive. He directed the Social Welfare Department to draw up a recruitment framework in consultation with the associations of differently abled persons.

Presently, there are around 4,419 vacant posts under PH category in different government departments and the number may go up as assessment of few other departments is still going on.

Sonowal further asked that the Social Welfare Dept to prepare a calendar for all the other government departments outlining the selection process for simultaneous recruitment across the State.

The representatives of the associations urged Sonowal to take steps for construction of a rest house for differently abled persons in Guwahati, after which Sonowal directed the department to identify suitable land for the same.

The CM�s Legal Adviser Santanu Bharali, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, Principal Secretary of Social Welfare Dept Jishnu Baruah, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Lohia, Director of Social Welfare SS Meenakshi Sundaram and other officials were also present.
