CM for fast-tracking welfare schemes

GUWAHATI, April 22 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today called for bringing government schemes to fast-track delivery system to benefit the people in a time-bound manner.

He was sharing his thoughts and vision on the second day of the conference of the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) at the Assam Administrative Staff College here, said an official press release.

Gogoi asked the district machineries led by the DCs to perform for the poor and down-trodden section of the people. He also asked the administrative machinery to adopt a humane approach and extend governance even at the grassroots level. Emphasising a synergy in the service delivery system, Gogoi asked the DCs and departments concerned to undertake field visits and monitor the implementation of the schemes related to the departments.

He also asked the DCs to prepare a comprehensive proposal for upgradation of the existing infrastructure so as to ensure access of all sections of the people to the services like health, education, agriculture and other employment-generating avenues.

Reiterating his commitment to stimulate developmental activities for sustained economic growth, Gogoi suggested steps for rewarding the best performing block in every district. For generating awareness about welfare schemes of the government, he also asked the district authorities to put up hoardings displaying schemes of the government and ways and means to avail them. He further asked the DCs to take adequate steps for providing benefits of the Indira Awas Yojana to people belonging to BPL level on a priority basis.

Moreover, direction has been given to expedite the delivery of government pension schemes, construction of toilets for the targeted beneficiaries without any hassle. He also stressed convergence programmes to present a bouquet of the government�s welfare schemes for the benefit of the people.
