CM: Cong for total development of BTC

UDALGURI, April 5 � �The Coingress party is the party for poor people of the society. It is the only party which could transform the life of a poor person by way of development of the society, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.� This was said by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, while addressing an election rally here at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex here at Mazbat town on Saturday.

As part of his election campaigning in the BTC elections slated to be held on April 8 next for 40 constituencies, the Chief Minister flew to Mazbat from Tamulpur to campaign for Birsa Munda, the Congress candidate for Pachnoi Serfang (non-ST) constituency. In his speech, the Chief Minister hoped that people would vote Congress to power in the BTC and would benefit from the Rs 500 crore special package. He also criticised other political parties by saying that all of them appeared before the people only during election time.

The meeting was also attended by APCC president Anjan Dutta, Ripun Bora, Tanka Bahadur Rai, former ministers and Bisti Kumar Basumatary, president of Udalguri district Congress Committee among others.
