CM Cell on mobile app for Majuli residents

By A Correspondent

MAJULI, Oct 21 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is also the local MLA of Majuli to keep in touch with the people of Majuli and to know their problems had inaugurated the CMs Cell on September 19 last through which the people could file their petitions and these applications reached the CMs office through this cell.

But the cell faced some inherent problems. It needed a lot of time to solve the problems, it was a paper-based system so there was the fear of loss of applications, applicants were not informed about the processing of their applications and as to whether they reached the CMs office or not. To solve these problems, an online application was launched on Tuesday by the DC of Majuli district, Pallab Gopal Jha. Christened the Digitalisation and SMS Based Public Monitoring System, it is designed by a Guwahati-based software company Invent-B Inventions Private Ltd. The application is designed to reduce the gap between the people of Majuli and the Chief Minister through the use of technology.

In todays modern world of technology, Majuli is lagging far behind in comparison to other parts of the country. With this initiative taken by the Deputy Commissioner, the people of Majuli will be able to file applications free of cost. It will save money and time and be easily accessible. Now the people of this island district, instead of going to Guwahati to meet the Chief Minister spending a lot of time and money, can contact him and file their petitions directly at the DCs office. The app is designed in such a manner that the applicants will be informed about the processing of their petitions through SMS, and if they want they also can inquire about the processing of their petitions and they will get all the information about the fate of their applications on their mobiles itself.
