Closing function of ABSU golden jubilee celebration from Jan 8

TEZPUR, Dec 23 - The closing ceremony of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU) will be held with a four-day-long programme from January 8 at Batasipur in Dhekiajuli.

The laikhuta for the celebration was formally erected by Dr Sukdev Adhikari, principal of LOKD College, Dhekiajuli. The venue for the mega event of the frontline tribal student body has been christened as �Banasur Fwthar�. After the erection of the laikhuta, ABSU chief, Promode Boro unfurled the flag of the student body.

In his address, Boro asserted that the ABSU will give more priority to socio-cultural, educational fields and will eradicate practices that encourage superstition in the Bodo society. �We will make a special route map involving educationists, intellectuals and politicians of different tribal communities for finding out solutions to problems being faced by various tribal societies of the region,� he said.

The event was attended by general secretary of NDFB (P), Govinda Basumatary; ABSU adviser, Kusum Sorgiary; president of the celebration committee Dr Tulahan Mochahari; district Bodo Sahitya Sabha advisers Liladhar Boro and Jailen Basumatary and working president of the celebration committee Indrakanta Boro.
