Clean politics campaign launched in Meghalaya

By Newmai News

SHILLONG, July 2 Cronyism and self-centered politics, giving birth to instability, arbitrariness and irresponsible governance, has robbed the rights of 29 lakh people living in Meghalaya for the last 40 years. Every woman, man and child in this State is affected by this political menace resulting in dire socio-economic consequences.

These were the remarks of the aspiring MLA from North Tura constituency, Roger Benny A Sangma, popularly known as Benny, while addressing a gathering at Rengsangre village in West Garo Hills on Friday last under the Clean Politics Campaign.

The problems are endless but potential solutions are underway as the Clean Politics Campaign is set to bring realistic, gradual and positive change to society, he said.

The meeting was attended by the public including ex- MDC, senior politicians, Nokmas, village elders, youths, womens groups, church leaders and NGO leaders along with the supporters of Benny.

Benny asserted that the Clean Politics Campaign is calling upon one and all to own this movement and invited all sections of people of the State to be the Change that they need, by choosing the right candidate with clean image.

In every election, rural voters were lured by money power and muscle power, lamented the youngman.

He, therefore, urged the people to choose their leader wisely who is approachable and willing to serve the people in a right way.
