Clean India Mission launched in Manipur border villages

IMPHAL, Oct 11 � �Swachh Bharat Mission� was launched for the border villages of Molcham, Tidam, Khengjang and T Nampao under Chandel district of Manipur bordering Myanmar by 6 Dogra Regiment.

On the occasion, Commanding Officer, 6 Dogra distributed toilet seats and accessories to the villagers, reiterating the importance of health and hygiene in our daily life, according to Assam Rifles (South) PRO.

�The small initiative will ensure construction of toilets in these remote border villages thereby preventing people from defecating in open,� said the release. �The villagers along with the troops took �Swachh Bharat pledge� to make the environment clean for a better future.�

In another endeavour, a save energy awareness drive was carried out by 32 Assam Rifles on Friday. During the drive, locals of Joupi village under Chandel district were educated about saving electricity by using low power consuming appliances, CFL bulbs, tube lights, LED lights, etc., in place of incandescent bulbs. Later, the unit changed all the incandescent light bulbs and replaced them with CFL bulbs in all houses of Joupi.

Ultras held: Troops of 9 Assam Rifles along with Moreh police launched an operation in Pangal Basti, Ward No 5, Moreh and apprehended one Kangleipak Communist Party (N) cadre on Thursday, according to Assam Rifles sources.
