�Clean Assam - Healthy Assam� campaign

GUWAHATI, Feb 19 � A group of pharmacists from Udyog Development Foundation, New Delhi, who have taken up an initiative of �India Pharmacists Revolution (Kashmir to Kanyakumari)� for sensitising the masses for a clean and healthy India, launched their �Clean Assam - Healthy Assam� campaign at the Guwahati Press Club on Wednesday.

They were joined in their pledge by the health fraternity of Assam comprising representatives of six medical colleges, three nursing colleges, six pharmacy colleges, one dental college, 25 district hospitals, 13 sub-divisional hospitals, 975 primary health centres (PHCs), 108 community health centres, 4,609 sub-centres, besides eight blood banks and approximately 8,000 pharmacy stores.

�Currently, we have a pharmacist volunteer base in 676 districts of our country. Now we are taking the Initiative �India Pharmacists Abhiyan (Kashmir to Kanyakumari � Jan-2015 to Dec-2020)� with the objective of covering 676 districts of the country,� Amitav J Choudhury, social activist and convenor of the campaign, told the media.

Choudhury said that all the health professionals (doctors/dentists/pharmacists/nurses/para-medics) in the country were taking part in the campaign for patient safety.

�Patient safety being our priority, we need to clean all state hospitals, district hospitals, PHCs, CHCs, sub centres, dispensaries, blood banks, pharmacy stores, private hospitals, nursing homes, etc. The objective of the campaign is to ensure countrywide sensitization of policy makers and stakeholders, including health professionals, in the health sector for maintaining ethics in professional life for good health of the patients,� he added.
