Classes resume after two months in Imphal

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Sept 4 - Educational institutions in greater Imphal resumed normal classes after remaining closed for almost two months. However, attendance of students in most of the educational institutions was poor.

The State Government announced closure of the educational institutions on July 9 in the wake of widespread public agitation demanding implementation of a mechanism to check inflow of outsiders, in order to pave way for Inner Line Permit system (ILP).

The Education department had announced re-opening of the institutions on August 4, but the educational institutions were not inclined to resume classes as violence broke out again in the greater Imphal area after the death of a class XI student Sapam Robinhood in a police action on July 8.
