SIVASAGAR, Dec 28 - In a major development , the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Sivasagar, Rousan Lal yesterday ordered suspension of the construction work of the Rs 19 crore four-storey CJM Court building complex near the SP office after observing low-quality building materials being used by the contractors. The CJM personally inspected the materials and talked to the labourers engaged in the work and took the decision.
It may be mentioned here that the project was a fruit of persistent effort of the then Minister of Law, Handloom and Textile Pronob Gogoi. The Sivasagar Bar Association had also raised objection to the site selected for it as it was a little distance away from the Sivasagar Court. Despite repeated complaints, the PWD Building division turned a blind eye on the construction.
