City school team to attend UN meet

GUWAHATI, March 2 � Maria�s Public School, Guwahati is sending a group of six students from Class IX with a teacher to attend a conference in the United Nations General Assembly Hall, New York on invitation from the United Nations International School.

The conference will be held on the March 4 and 5, 2010 and the topic of the meeting is �Bio-ethics: Striking a Balance.��

The students participating in the conference are Pritika Angelika Chittaranjan, Boris Sindhu Kalita, Rhea Hussain, Uddhav Choudhary, Bhavna Choudhary and Anali Ambani Baruah along with the teacher Aparna Khanikar.

Apart from taking part in discussions, debates and presentations on topics like euthanasia, genetic engineering, cloning and the role of�pharmaceutical companies, they will also be presenting a short film on the subject.

Their film has been selected for presentation from amongst all the participating schools.�After the conference, these young delegates will visit the Leon M. Goldstein High school at Brooklyn, New York. This is part of an exchange programme between the two schools.�

On the March 16 the students will visit NASA. During their stay in Houston the students will also visit the Anderson Medical College, a press release mentioned.
