City college Principals FIR over threat by outsider

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 1 - Radha Govinda Baruah College Principal Dr Babita Choudhury has lodged an FIR with the police after an outsider allegedly barged into her chamber and threatened her.

She told this newspaper that for over a week now, a group of students has been indulging in unruly behaviour over several issues, including holding of the freshers social meet, organising the flood relief campaign, etc.

Yesterday, a youth from outside barged into my chamber along with few of our girl students. He threatened me, alleging that I misbehaved with the students, Choudhury said.

Today a group of students staged protests at the college demanding removal of the Principal. Police had to intervene to control the situation.

Fatasil Ambari police station officer-in-charge Dilip Bharali said the students later submitted a memorandum to the circle officer stating their various demands.

The institution has been witnessing a confrontation between the faculty and some students over the last few days. Miscreants also allegedly pelted stones at the college premises yesterday.
