DHUBRI, April 9 - Citizens of Dhubri district are not satisfied with the ongoing family tree verification process for the NRC upgradation as many people have complained that they are called to far-off areas for verification purposes.
In a meeting held recently in the Deputy Commissioner�s conference hall about the ongoing process of NRC update process among the members of the administration, NRC officials, citizens� representatives, political party representatives, NGOs etc., the citizens resented that they are facing immense problems for the family tree verification because the centres for the verification are in far-off areas.
According to them, there are many cases where the family from Dhubri has been called for verification to upper Assam, creating financial problems to poor families. They also say that they are facing problems because many people are called for verification to distant chars. �Apart from poor families, sick citizens, senior citizens and children are facing hindrances,� said one of the members present in the meeting.
The citizens also complained about the behaviour of many verification officers who according to them are �rude and merciless�. They also made the officials aware of many other issues related to the upgradation process. Addressing the grievances, the Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani assured that if the administration is made aware of any such cases, then they will take immediate steps to check it
Addressing the security issues, the Additional Superintendent of Police of Dhubri G Deka assured that there is no security threat regarding NRC upgradation process in any of the NSKs of Dhubri district. �Nevertheless, we have taken utmost care to make citizens feel secure. Appropriate number of officials have been deployed in every NSK to check any unfortunate event.�
