GUWAHATI, May 17 A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has begun its investigation into the murder of Gadapani Pathak, Superintending Engineer of the Agriculture department, has left for West Bengal to probe suspected leads in the case.

The CID team has already visited several spots in connection with the case. A senior official of the CID told The Assam Tribune that information about the movement of suspects in West Bengal has been found and the investigating team is moving ahead with the leads.

The official further stated that it has also established network with the West Bengal Police who have agreed to assist the investigators.

Although it is too early to disclose anything at this moment, we are confident of solving the murder mystery very soon, the official assured.

The investigators, however, did not rule out departmental enmity behind the abduction and subsequent murder of the senior engineer.

Questioning of various people known to the deceased is on and the cell phone records are also being scanned, the official added.
