Christmas at home for special children

GUWAHATI, Dec 26 - Members of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Guwahati visited Destination Home, a home for special children and children in need located at Bhagadattapur, Kahilipara and Dakhingaon here on Friday and distributed 120 packets containing varieties of fruit and biscuits along with sanitizer bottles and water bottles among the children, said a press release issued today.

The programme was arranged specially to celebrate the holy occasion of Christmas with the physically and mentally challenged children staying at Destination Home.

There was also a session of chanting Omkaram and Gayatri Mantra where every child participated with zeal. Pocket calendars and pictures of Sri Sathya Sai Baba were also distributed among the children, the release added.

Meanwhile, the North East Institute of Fashion Technology in association with �XS - the place to be�, organised a pre-Christmas celebration for underprivileged children in Guwahati on Thursday, said a press release issued today.

The celebration included fun, frolic, music and games for the children. Renowned personalities including singer Zubeen Garg, actress Nishita Goswami and dancer Meghranjani Medhi among others were present on the occasion.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta also attended the event. He inspired the children with a brief speech stating, �Play is the shortest route between children and their creative calling. We must let the children make the most out of their childhood.�
