TURA, Nov 4 - BDO of Chokpot, Jude Rangku T Sangma finally reached his house early on Tuesday after a seven hour walk on foot. He was released by Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) at Allagre village, near Chokpot in South Garo Hills. Sangma was abducted a week back.
�He is too tired after walking for seven hours through hills and is sleeping�, his father said. He denied any ransom calls made by the outfit.
�We found nothing against the BDO and decided to release him�, said the outfit�s western commander, Hedio Momin.
In the past four years, GNLA and other militant organization have abducted several government officials, teachers and traders, which included former district transport officer of East Garo Hills Robinus Syngkon, who is now a legislator. MCS officer PK Boro was also abducted and later released by the outfit.
In June this year, ASAK rebels had abducted district sports officer (DSO) of South Garo Hills AN Sharma. He was released in August allegedly after the family paid ransom almost a month after being kidnapped.
Last week, the bodies of Central intelligence officer Vikash Kumar Singh and trader Kamal Saha, murdered allegedly by ASAK rebels were recovered from Bolchugre village, near Baghmara in South Garo Hills.
