Child workers rescued

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Dec 8 - The Labour department, along with child rights NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), has rescued four minors working in car washing centres here under harsh conditions. The minors, according to the NGO, were neither paid any remuneration nor provided proper facilities.

The minors were rescued from car washing centres located in the Six Mile and VIP Road areas on Wednesday.

These kids were made to wash vehicles from morning to evening in drenched clothes. A couple of them were not even paid a single penny by their employers, sources said.

The Labour department was represented by Assistant Labour Commissioner M Rahman. The rescued children have been sent to a Guwahati-based shelter home.
