Chicken entry banned in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, Jan 20 - The district administration of Hailakandi has banned the entry of chicken for poultry farms following the spread of bird flu in the neighbouring State of Tripura.

In a government communiqu� issued by the district administration stated that the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry has been asked to make a survey in all the poultry farms throughout the district regarding the stock and import of chicken from outside. They have also been asked to submit the report before January 21.

The Joint Director of Health Services has also been asked to collect the report through IDSP project team of the department. A control room has already been opened in Hailakandi DC office where the people and the government officials were requested to provide information if any regarding bird flu.

The forest officials have also been directed to keep a watch on the activities of the birds following the spread of the disease. The officers-in-charge of all the police stations of the district are maintaining strict vigil on the activities of the businessmen dealing with poultry farms.
