Chhath Puja celebrations begin

JORABAT, Nov 15 - Like previous years, this year too, elaborate arrangements have been made by the Jorabat Chhath Puja Seva Samiti to celebrate Chhath Puja in the premises of Jorabat Bhadrakaleshwari Mandir.

Chhath Puja, which has begun today, will conclude on November 18. The Bhadrakaleshwari Mandir as well as the nearby pond have been beautified in view of the puja. Colourful rangolis have been made in spots where banana trees shall be planted for the puja. After offering prayers to the setting Sun on November 17, the people will spend the whole night in the Mandir premises and take part in �Ratri Jagran�, singing devotional songs.

A cultural function will be held on the November 17 evening.

Prameshwar Puri, publicity secretary of the Jorabat Chath Puja Seva Samiti 2015, informed The Assam Tribune that facilities like changing rooms, bathing spot, rest rooms, etc, for both male and female, have been arranged.

He said the Chhath Puja is held in the whole Amerigog area, which includes 8th Mile, 9th Mile, 10th Mile, 11th Mile, Jorabat, 12th Mile, 13th Mile, 14th Mile and 15th Mile. People from different parts of the North East come to take part in the Puja celebrations here, he added.
