Chetia�s release to help peace talks: Gogoi

GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that ULFA leader Anup Chetia�s extradition to India would have a positive impact on the ongoing government and pro-talk ULFA peace process.

In a statement here today Gogoi said, �We believe Anup Chetia will play an important role in the ongoing peace talks between the government and the pro-talk ULFA�. He also said that the Assam government has for long been demanding extradition of Chetia for a fruitful peace talks.

Gogoi said he had received the information that Bangladesh government has handed over Anup Chetia to the High Commission of India in Bangladesh when the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh informed him about the development over phone at 3 pm.

Gogoi said that the Government of India should hand over Chetia to Assam once he is brought back as it has been done in the cases of some other ULFA leaders, including Arabinda Rajkhowa.
