GUWAHATI, Nov 2 - The Kuki community of Guwahati and the adjoining areas yesterday celebrated the Chavang Kut festival at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here.
The event was marked by colourful traditional dances and other performances by the people of the community residing in the city.
Over 600 people from the community were present to celebrate the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that the Kukis are spread all over the North East and they have their own customs and traditions.
The Chavang Kut is the main festival of the Chin-Kuki tribe, which celebrates rich harvest after prolonged labour.
The event was also celebrated in the Kuki-dominated areas of Manipur, Nagaland and Assam.
