Charity concert for flood victims

NEW DELHI, Oct 15 � A charity event is being organised as part of the campaign to raise funds for the victims of the floods in Jammu & Kashmir and Assam.

The campaign, initially organised to bring awareness about the devastation caused by the floods in Jammu & Kashmir, was expanded to include Assam, said Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal.

The campaign is an initiative of the entertainment industry, led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEE).

�Hum Hain�Umeed-e-Kashmir� will now act for the cause of rehabilitation in Jammu & Kashmir as well as Assam. A concert will be hosted at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi on October 18. Celebrated actors and film personalities like Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, Gulzar, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Rekha Bhardwaj and Imtiaz Ali will join the event.

The stars will appeal to the people to donate to key NGOs and specified disaster relief funds in support of the Kashmir and Assam Relief Project.

Sonowal said that he has waived off the stadium rental for the event on his part. The campaign�s high point will be the creation of simultaneous live events on ground across eight cities on October 18 with the main event in the capital as well as Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur and Guwahati.

One of the leading news channels in Assam will speak with Assamese celebrities in Guwahati and present a flashback on what had happened during the devastating floods.
