GUWAHATI, Oct 11 � Sleuths of the Customs Department here today seized charas weighing 9.5 kilogram from a train coming from Jammu at the Guwahati Railway Station.
The consignment was found in an unclaimed bag, and as per reports, the person carrying the consignment detrained somewhere near the NJP Station. The estimated value of the consignment is estimated to be Rs 1.80 crore in the international market. The banned substance was recovered from Coach No. 14202 of Lohit Express at around 12.05 am from Platform No. 4.
Sources said that the seizure was made on the basis of a specific tip off. �We followed the consignment from Kamakya station, but when nobody claimed it, the bag was finally seized,� sources said.
On February 4, 2012, five kg of charas was recovered from the same train in Guwahati.
