Change of guards of Tinsukia Rotary Club

TINSUKIA, June 29 - In the present day context, any deed of public welfare by any organisation should be open and well publicized so that not only the people concern but the entire society should know as to who has done what. Applauding the welfare tasks namely in the fields of education, health and other social works that reflected in the general secretary�s report placed on the occasion of the 49th Installation Day of the Tinsukia unit of Rotary Club held at its own complex situated at Bordoloi Nagar here on Thursday, Prasanta Jyoti Baruah, executive editor, The Assam Tribune, as the chief guest of the function, stated that the members of the club who were educated and have come from different professions, namely, physicians, engineers, advocates, chartered accountants, businessmen of repute etc., and being considered as elite section of the society should tender the public welfare tasks in cooperation with the common people and should not segregate itself from the masses. Society should be enlightened about the public welfare tasks of the club so that other such organisations also come forward for such noble deeds.

In regards to journalism, Baruah, who has been in the profession for the last 30 years, stated that it was a very sensitive profession and a small mistake might create the worst situation in the society and, hence, journalists must verify all the information before filing submitting the report to the editorial desk.

On the occasion, Dr Gauri Shankar Gogoi and Utpal Bordoloi took charges as president and secretary respectively of the new committee from the outgoing president and secretary, Prakash Baid and Mayur Agarwal respectively. The president of the new committee also introduced the new members of the board and released the new theme to the house.

It may be mentioned that the report of activities of the last committee for the year 2017-18 was revealed in the secretary�s report. The activities, among others, consisted of the construction of school building with all the facilities, namely, office room, toilets, raised platform for cultural activities of the students at Guijan, number of eye check-up and treatment camps, health check-up camps, cleaning drives under Swachha Bharat Mission, tree plantation drives, financial aids to needy patients and poor students etc.

Some members of the club were felicitated on the occasion for their distinguished services tendered towards the cause of the club during the last tenure.
