MIRZA, Jan 2 � The Chandubi Festival was inaugurated by Guwahati Lok Sabha MP Bijoya Chakraborty on Wednesday. An exhibition, reflecting the Rabha art and culture, was also inaugurated during the function, which was presided over by Mahesh Teron.
Inaugurating the festival, Chakraborty said that the Chandubi Festival should be turned into a national festival so as to attract tourists from all over the world. She said that she has done her utmost for the development of the road from Mirza to Chandubi and lambasted the State government for not doing much for the Chandubi Festival.
�The government has no plan to promote the Chandubi Festival,� she said and lauded the youths of the Chandubi area for organising the Chandubi Festival on their own effort every year,� Chakraborty said.
A cultural procession was also flagged off during the inaugural function.
On Saturday, a seminar on �Chandubi and its Tourism Potentials� will be organized, which will be attended by noted journalists Haider Hussain and Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Apurba Jiban Baruah, DIG, etc.
The Chandubi Festival is being organised for last four years to pupularise the famous Chandubi Lake and its adjoining forests as a tourist destination.
