MIRZA, Dec 31 � Kamrup DC Dr J Balaji has enforced Section 144 CrPC in Chandubi Beel banning swimming and boating in the famous Chandubi Beel in a bid to protect tourists, stated a press release issued by Lakhi Biswas, DIPRO, Kamrup.

It may be mentioned that swimming and boating in the Chandubi Beel are favourite activities among the tourists here.

The Chandubi Festival will be inaugurated on tomorrow and will conclude on 5th January. The celebration has been organised by the All Rabha Students' Union to popularise the famous beel and its adjoining forest as a tourism attraction. The celebration will showcase the ethnic Rabha arts and culture, etc.

The Kamrup district administration has also enforced Section 144 CrPC banning cutting, collection and transportation of red soil of hills in the district with immediate effect, stated the press release. The district administration observed that cutting, collection and transportation of red soil of hills have been the reasons for landslides and blocking of the drainage systems in the district, thereby causing damage to life and properties of human, the release added.

The district administration also constituted a committee in every Revenue Circle Office with the concerned Circle Officer as chairman of the committee in this regards to look after the issue of cutting, collection and transportation of red soil of hills.
