GUWAHATI, Feb 22 � The sitting of Chandmari Sahitya Sabha was held on February 20 at the auditorium of JB Law College, Chandmari with Dhani Ram Talukdar in the chair. The meeting started with a song performed by Jogesh Barman.

After the welcome address by Dhani Ram Talukdar, the meeting condoled the death of eminent persons who died during last month, besides praying to God for early recovery of Mamoni Raisom Goswami, eminent writer and Jnanpith Awardee. Siteswar Saharia, the treasurer of the Sabha explained the purpose of the meeting and read out the secretarial report.

Self-composed poems were read out by Lili Das, Dilip Barua, Aruna Talukdar, Reena Devi Goswami, Biren Bez, Bhabendra Nath Talukdar, Ranu Duwara, Poly Banikya, Purabi Barua, Promod Ch Bhattacharjee, Khanindra Pathak and Abani Pathak, while other writings like short stories, etc., were read out by Dhani Ram Talukdar, Dr Jayanta Kr Goswami, Girindra Mohan Das, Barnalee Bharali, Kuntala Dutta and Nila Kanta Nath.

Ranu Duwara and Lili Devi reviewed the poems and other writings read out in the meeting. Ranu Duwara and Jogesh Barman entertained all with their songs. This was stated in a press release.
