Chamata to get Rs 10 crore stadium

NALBARI, Aug 6 - In a bid to boost sports activities, the State Government has decided to develop the tourism and industrial sector in the State. With an aim to attract more tourists to the State, the government is also looking forward towards investors in order to ensure Guwahati as the �sports capital of India�.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while addressing a meeting after laying the foundation stone of the Rs 10 crore project at Chamata stadium on Sunday, said that his government will organise sports events in 219 development blocks and 2202 gaon panchayats from this year to spot hidden talents in rural areas. The State Government will provide necessary support to such talented sportspersons. He also lauded Hima Das for her gold medal winning performance at Tampere, Finland. Sonowal said that the interest of people in the State is gradually increasing.
