Chahatey Ram takes charge as new NF Rly GM

GUWAHATI, July 9 - Chahatey Ram, an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer of the 1981 batch, has taken charge as the new General Manager of the Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).

He was serving as the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) of the Jaipur-based North Western Railway prior to his new assignment, said an official statement.

Ram has held several important assignments in the Ministry of Railways. He was an executive engineer of the Thane Creek Railway Bridge connecting Mumbai and New Mumbai.

He had also worked as the Director and the Executive Director at the RDSO, Lucknow, from 1996 to 2001, and was the Chief Bridge Engineer of Eastern Railway from 2003 to 2007.

Ram also worked as the Divisional Railway Manager, Lucknow Division of Northern Railway from 2007 to 2009.

From 2009 to 2011, he worked as the Chief Engineer (Construction) of the Jammu Kashmir project dealing with the construction of tunnels, bridges and mega bridges over the Chenab river.

As the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), Jaipur, he had been in charge of all major construction projects in North Western Railway like railway lines, bridges and workshops since 2011.
