Centre revamps Tea Board

GUWAHATI, Nov 4 - The Union Government has reconstituted the Tea Board with 31 members. The newly-constituted Tea Board includes seven members from the State. However, the notification issued for the purpose has shown nine posts of members vacant.

According to the November 2, 2015 Gazette Notification {SO 2989 (E)} issued by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, State�s Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce has been appointed as member of the Tea Board. The other members from the State include Lok Sabha MP Ramen Deka, tea planter Bidyananda Barkakoty, trade unionist Dineswar Tasha, tea planter Prabhat Kamal Bezboruah, MLA Dilip Moran and trade unionist Sunil Kirwai.

The Board has been reconstituted after a gap of 16 months from the date of expiry of the term of the previous Board. The Board has no full-time chairman for the past about two years.
