Centre examining 7 Arunachal hydel projects

NEW DELHI, Dec 16 � Even as the agitation against mega dams in Assam gathers momentum, the Centre is currently examining the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of seven private hydropower projects proposed to be set up in Arunachal Pradesh.�

Of the seven projects, three are over 1000 MW capacity, including the 1000 MW Siyom, 1140 MW Demwe Upper and 1000 MW Naying hydropower project.

Currently, DPRs of 10 hydropower projects with an

aggregate installed capacity of 5135 MW are in various stages of examination in the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Geological Survey of India and the Ministry of Water Resources, Minister of State for Power KC Venugopal said.

Of the 10 projects, three are in Himachal Pradesh. The other four projects under consideration include 225 MW Londa, 144 MW Gongri, 90 MW Pemashelphu and 500 MW Hirong hydropower projects.
