Centre assures help to revive 2 paper mills in State

NEW DELHI, June 19 - Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Arvind Ganapat Sawant on Wednesday said that he would extend full cooperation in revival of the two paper mills in Assam.

Talking to newsmen, after meeting a nine-member BJP MP�s delegation from Assam here today, the Union Minister said that he would try his best to revive the paper mills. �I will try 100 per cent to revive the mills,� he said.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Rameswar Teli, who led the delegation, said that the MPs today met the Union Minister and held discussions for about half an hour. �The Minister assured us that he would try to resolve the problem within his tenure. I have full confidence in him that he would resolve the problem,� Teli said.

�The Minister also conveyed to us that he would be delighted to solve the problem,� added Teli.

Meanwhile, the State BJP parliamentarians urged the Centre to revive the two paper mills.

The delegation, included Topon Gogoi, Pallab Lochan Das, Pradan Baruah, Queen Oja, Dilip Saikia, Dr Rajdeep Roy, Kripanath Mallah and Horen Singh Bey.

The BJP MPs said that they believe that the scope of making the Hindustan Paper Corporation mills commercially viable still exists, if it is run by efficient professional management with proper modernisation and technological upgradation and financial restructuring. This can be carried out either by implementation of PPP model or private takeover initiative, they said.
