GUWAHATI, May 12 - The Union government recently announced a relief package of Rs 1.70 lakh crore under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) for the poor to help them fight the battle against coronavirus.
As part of the said package, the Centre proposes to pay 24 per cent of the monthly wages into the EPF account for the three months � March, April and May, a statement issued by the regional office of the Employees� Provident Fund Organization said here today.
According to the statement, the benefits will be available to establishments having up to 100 employees with 90 per cent or more such employees earning monthly wages up to Rs 15,000.
The entire employees� EPF contribution and employer�s EPF and EPS contributions of the monthly wages for the three months shall be paid directly by the Central government in the EPF account of the employees.
�The employer in relation to any eligible establishment shall disburse wages for the month to all employees of the establishment and file ECR to avail the benefit under the scheme,� it said. The employer shall not deduct the employee�s share of EPF contribution from the monthly wages for the months of March, April and May, the statement added.
