Central offices paralysed in Shillong

SHILLONG, Sept 2 - Central Government offices in the State Capital here remained non-functional due to the countrywide strike called by the trade unions.

Most of the Central Government offices remained paralysed with employees taking to the streets with a procession. But, banks remained open despite the employees unions extending their support to the strike.

Trade unions have presented a 12-point charter of demands to the Government. The Unions are against the Government�s decision to amend the Labour laws and disinvestment of State and Central Public Sector Units. Some of the other demands include containing price rise, contain unemployment, universal social security cover, besides others.

PTI adds: The nationwide one-day strike called by ten trade unions failed to create any impact in Arunachal Pradesh today.

All shops, business establishments, financial institutions and government offices were open and commercial as well as private vehicles plied normally in the State capital. The strike has been called to protest against changes in Labour laws and privatisation of PSUs.

Arunachal releases fund for CSS

Itanagar, Sept 2 - In line with the decision taken to ensure timely release of the State�s shares for education and health sector, Arunachal Pradesh Government has released Rs 28.93 crore as the State�s share against various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) under health and education sector, an official communiqu� informed here today.

The State Cabinet had earlier decided that the State share against CSS, particularly under critical sectors would be released in a time-bound manner for smooth implementation of schemes.

Concerned departments have been directed to implement the schemes strictly as per guidelines and submit Utilisation Certificates (UC) against the funds released to enable the State Government to take up the matter with the Centre for release of subsequent instalments, the communiqu� added. � PTI
