Central Agri College in Manipur

IMPHAL, June 22 � Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan has assured that a Central Agriculture College will be opened in Manipur.

The assurance was given to a high power BJP delegation led by its Manipur unit president Th Chaoba Singh accompanied by M Asnikumar Singh and Laimayum Bashanta Sharma, both State general secretaries during their meeting in Delhi recently, a statement issued by BJP Manipur said.

They also demanded special occupational rehabilitation package for 777 fishermen of Loktak Lake who were evicted in 2011.

The delegation would also call on the Prime Minister and Home Minister on issues concerning Manipur, the source said.

In a separate meeting with Union Minister for Environment and Forest Prakash Javedkar, a discussion was held on ecological crisis due to the adverse impact of the Loktak Hydel Project commissioned by NHPC, seriously affecting the biodiversity and ecology of Loktak lake . The Manipur BJP team demanded a post-environmental impact assessment on Loktak Hydel Project by a high power expert committee.
