GUWAHATI, Aug 13 - The Cotton College State University (CCSU) Students Union has opposed any move aimed at separating the college and the university, saying both are inseparable parts of a single entity.

Talking to this newspaper, the students union vice president Samujjal Sarma said that the CCSU is the result of a process of upgrading the status of the historic Cotton College, and the students of the university are vehemently opposed to any move to bifurcate the two. Any such move is contrary to the spirit of the Cotton College State University Act. Such a move will ruin both the university and the college, he said.

The CCSU Students Union will submit memoranda to the Vice Chancellor of the CCSU, to the State Chief Minister, who is also the Chancellor of the CCSU, and the Education Minister on the above issues, he said.
