CBI traps ONGC GM for taking bribe

SIVASAGAR, Feb 7 � The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) trapped General Manager (Civil), of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Purna Kanta Borah for receipt of Rs 40,000 bribe from a contractor. The CBI today afternoon carried out searches at Borah�s office in Sivasagar, besides conducting raids at his ONGC residential quarter in Sivasagar.

A nine-member team conducted searches at Borah�s office, while the other two-member team was searching his resident.

After registering a complaint from Ratul Kotoky of Simaluguri, in association with Chanchal Konwar, another contractor of Railway department, that PK Borah wanted an amount of Rs 1 lakh as bribe and a girl for a night for providing him the Annual Rate Contract, the CBI carried out the operation.

The trap was laid by CBI at Borah�s office and he was caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 40,000 as first instalment from the complainant. Questioning of Borah is still going on till the filing of this report.
