TEZPUR, April 14 - A six-member CBI team raided Tezpur University and seized many documents from the office of the Registrar and the Department of Audit of the university. The team led by TL Jamang arrived in the university on Wednesday morning at around 10 am and continued their investigations till 10 pm.
During the investigation, the team quizzed many of the top officials of the university including the Registrar, Dr Biren Das and the Deputy Registrar Hriday Saikia regarding tenders against various works executed till date and examined the papers related with those works. It is to be stated that during the tenure of former VC, Prof Mihir Kanti Chowdhury, the university received many fund allotments for its development. However, allegations have been rife that only some particular contractors were given the work of construction and supply of different goods and some of them allegedly misappropriated those funds in nexus with a section of unscrupulous officials of the university.
