CBI may file Raja chargesheet in SC today

NEW DELHI, March 28 � With the setting up of special court exclusively to hold trial in 2G scam, the CBI is expected to place in the Supreme Court tomorrow the draft charge sheet against former Telecom Minister A Raja and others including top executives of some telecom firms, reports PTI.

The CBI and Enforcement Directorate will also place their status report of their further probe in the scam and the transcripts of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia�s telephonic conversations tapped by the IT department before a bench of justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly.

On the last date of hearing on March 16, the agencies had informed the court that charge sheet would be filed against the former minister on various charges including of corruption, money laundering, cheating and forgery.

The draft chargesheet would be filed in compliance of the apex court order which had asked the agency to take its approval on the charge sheet before it is filed in the trial court.

The Delhi Government today issued a notification designating Om Prakash Saini as a special judge to undertake the trial of 2G scam cases exclusively and in a separate notification, the Finance Ministry designated the sessions court of Saini as special court to deal with offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.
