GUWAHATI, Dec 27 - CBI court here today convicted two persons for defrauding the Employees Provident Fund Organization by illegally settling the PF claims of nine employees of Donyi Polo Mission(DPM) of Itanagar to the tune of Rs 19.39 lakh.
Pronouncing the judgement, Special CBI Judge SN Sarma said that Tarun Chandra Goswami � a former employee of DPM and Jayanta Deb Ray have been found guilty in the case.
Five other accused, including officials of EPFO, were acquitted on benefit of doubt. Both the accused have been awarded three years imprisonment along with a fine. The fraud was done through forged and fictitious papers during 2000-2002. The PF was against genuine employees were settled in fictitious names by furnishing false and fabricated particulars.
