Carrom ICF Cup from October 7

GUWAHATI, Sept 13 - The 7th International Carrom Federation (ICF) Cup Tournament 2015 will be organised by the All India Carrom Frderation (AICF) in New Delhi from October 7 to 11. This was finalised in the AICF Annual General Council Meeting held here today.

Adressing the media after the meeting, the AICF president and State Minister Rakibul Hussain informed that about 12 to 13 countries like UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, USA, Canada, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Bangladesh may participate in this mega event with the host country.

Moreover, Hussain has been nominated as the chairman of the organising committee by the International Carrom Federation. The other members are-Pradeep Kumar Hazarika-vice chairman, PS Bachher -tournament secretary, VD Narayan-organising secretary, Langley Methiaz and Mahesh Sekhri-technical directors, Rohini-chief referee and Raju Mahant- assistant chief referee.

The Indian team was also announced today in the press meet. Debjani Tamuly of Assam has been selected as a member of the women team. She was felicitated today during the press meet.

The other members are- (men) K Sriniwas, Raiz Akbar Ali, Sandeep Deorukhkar and Yogesh Pardesi; (women) Rashmi Kumari, Kajal Kumari, Tuba Sehar.

Arjuna Awardee and two times world champion Maria Irudyam has been appointed as mentor of the India team whereas Arun Kedar, former national champion, will be the coach of the team.Vijay Kumar and Vijayraj will be the team managers of men and women teams respectively. Sandeep Pundkar has been nominated as the Chef de Mission.
