Capacity building prog for watershed committees

JORABAT, Oct 13 - A training programme titled �Capacity building Programme�, for the watershed committees formed by the State soil conservation department under IWMP, was organised today at Jorabat Kali Mandir by National Youth Welfare Association (NYWA), an NGO, in collaboration with the South Bank Soil Conservation Division.

The main objective of the programme was to train the members and office-bearers of the watershed committees mainly hailing from areas under Kamarkuchi Gaon Panchyat, on funds provided by the government and also to increase their awareness about these funds and how to keep proper accounts of funds sanctioned and spent.

The programme was attended by committees from Morokdolla, Tepesia, Dhemai, Nuri, Kamlajari etc.

NYWA president Robson Lal Baruah and secretary Lakhyadhar Bharali motivated the committee members and office-bearers to use the full potential of government schemes and become sound economically.

Social activists from the area Gauri Shankar Chaudhury, Ramesh Chandra Das and Tara Sharma were also present at the programme. The training programme will continue after the puja vacations, informed Bharali.
