Candlelight rally for orphaned BTAD kids

GUWAHATI, May 12 � Utsah-Universal Team for Social Action and Help, a Guwahati-based NGO engaged in activities relating to child welfare and children�s rights, is organizing a candlelight rally on May 14, at 6 pm at Dighalipukhuripar in the city to pay homage to the children who lost their lives in the violent incidents in BTAD recently.

The rally also intends to create awareness in the civil society about the futility of such violence against children, and collect signatures on a petition to be submitted to the Assam Chief Minister for proactive action by the Government so that such mindless atrocities upon innocent children do not take place again, said a press statement.

The NGO has a mission for �creating safer spaces that ensure survival and protection, and fosters the development of children who are in need of care and protection� added the statement. Miguel Das Queah, chairperson, Utsah, urged representatives of NGOs, educational institutions, and members of civil society to participate in the rally.
