Cancer survivors share experiences

GUWAHATI, April 9 - The 8th Treated Cancer Patients Meet was held at the North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute on April 8. Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury, pathologist and Prakash Mahanta, journalist were present at the meet as chief guest and special guest respectively.

Previously treated cancer patients at the Institute were invited for a free check-up of their health condition and also to share their experiences and feelings at the meet, which is held to motivate other cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Institute.

Attendants and patients along with the employees of the Institute also participated on the occasion. Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury in his speech enthralled the audience with his humour and sang two of the best songs of Dr Bhupen Hazarika. Prakash Mahanta praised the Institute for organizing such an event regularly and shared his experiences in cancer treatment, which were very motivational for the patients present in the meet.

Ganesh Tamuli, Chairman, NECHRI, who inaugurated and chaired the meet, expressed that avoidance of tobacco and maintaining a healthy lifestyle help prevent cancer.

Dr Nipan Mahanta and Taanishi Inam, both Directors at NECHRI, and Dr Robin Gohain, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, were also present at the meet.
